A perfect location!
Right in the middle of it!
The Vendée, located in the Pays de la Loire region, could be divided into four main areas, each offering unique and captivating attractions. In the centre of the Vendée, you will find La Roche-sur-Yon (nearby, Aizenay) strategic locations where we have chosen to create our gîtes, offering ideal access to all the wonders of the region.
The islands of Noirmoutier and Yeu and the marshes
The islands of Noirmoutier and Yeu, as well as the marshes around La Barre-de-Monts, are another fascinating facet of the Vendée. Noirmoutier, with its salt marshes, wild beaches and famous Passage du Gois, offers an idyllic getaway. The Ile d'Yeu, accessible by ferry, is an unspoiled gem with its spectacular coastal scenery and island traditions. The marshes around La Barre-de-Monts, on the other hand, are wetlands rich in biodiversity, ideal for nature walks and bird watching. This region is perfect for those looking to reconnect with nature and discover unique landscapes.
The Marais Poitevin, Vouvant and Mervent
This area is a haven of peace and greenery, dominated by the Marais Poitevin, often called the "Green Venice". The picturesque villages of Vouvant and Mervent offer a mix of forests, rivers and medieval heritage, perfect for hiking and historical discoveries.
The Puy du Fou and its surroundings
The famous Puy du Fou theme park, regularly voted the best park in the world, is located in this region. It offers breathtaking shows retracing the history of the Vendée and France. The surrounding area also offers hilly landscapes and charming villages to explore.
The Coast of Light
The Côte de Lumière, along the Atlantic coast of the Vendée, is renowned for its fine sandy beaches, its lively seaside resorts, and its exceptional sunshine. From Saint-Jean-de-Monts to Les Sables-d'Olonne, this part of the Vendée offers the perfect mix of relaxation and water activities. Whether you want to soak up the sun, practice water sports, or discover the charming fishing ports, the Côte de Lumière has it all
In summary, if you want to find an ideal location to visit the Vendée as a whole, prefer La Roche-sur-Yon and its surroundings... exactly where our cottages are located! That's crazy though!! ;)
